I have a polaroid 42 TV about 3 I have a polaroid 37" TV about 3 4 years old about 2 months ago when you turned it on the sound would have a high pitch uniforms ncaa 14 whining noise, then it would go away after about 10 seconds. Then the TV wouldn t turn off by using a remote, or the switch on the side of the TV, we would have to unplug it to get it to shut off. Then we would have to turn it on, wait about 10 minutes, unplug it, then plug it back in and turn it on (it still has the high pitched noise on the sound when it turns on. However, now it come on at all. Your issue is what is most likely well documented as bad (undersized) capacitors on the power supply board. I always recommend a professional make these repairs and official diagnosis but they will not be cheap although some people have been fixing like issues for less than $20. The difference is, a repairman will replace a $250 board plus their time, homeowners are repairing their old boards themselves with new capacitors. Home brew solutions should be done at your own risk. Always unplug the TV 2 hours before attempting repairs if you try this. You will need to know how to solder and de solder if you have the same issue. Be polite, but be forceful. Escalate, escalate, escalate. I hope you found this answer timely and informative.
